Hi

I've been troubleshooting an issue carrying out a clean installation of
Open Manage 6.5 on 32bit RHEL 5.6 and have found a possible issue:

Dell provide a supported yum repo here:
http://linux.dell.com/repo/hardware/latest/

The file srvadmin-omilcore-6.5.0-1.396.1.el5.noarch.rpm exists in both
the rh50 and rh50_64 sections of this repository, however the contents
are different.

http://linux.dell.com/repo/hardware/latest/platform_independent/rh50/srv
admin-i386/srvadmin-omilcore-6.5.0-1.396.1.el5.noarch.rpm

http://linux.dell.com/repo/hardware/latest/platform_independent/rh50_64/
srvadmin-x86_64/srvadmin-omilcore-6.5.0-1.396.1.el5.noarch.rpm

Specifically the one in the 32 bit repo has a folder
/opt/dell/srvadmin/lib and the one in the 64 bit repo has
/opt/dell/srvadmin/lib64.

This works OK if you are installing directly from the Dell repo as your
server doesn't know the other one exists, however if you sync the repo
down to a single deployment server (Satellite) it thinks they are
actually the same file and just creates pointers to a single copy of the
file. This means you can end up installing the version with lib64 onto
32 bit systems (which then fails to start the services).

Has anyone else either experienced or can confirm / deny the issue that
rpm's claiming to be architecture independent actually aren't.

Also I'm aware this is the second time I've sent this same issue to a
mailing list but have noticed there's two slightly different addresses
(linux-poweredge at lists.us.dell.com and linux-poweredge at dell.com ). That
may or may not make a difference as to where it goes and directly trying
to contact Dell support is proving 'complicated' regarding this.

Regards

Mark
