Hi Nick,

what is with:

cat /proc/mtrr

Does it show your full installed memory?

Best regards,

Morten

Subject: Where did the RAM go ..

Hi folks
R900 running RHEL5.
This weekend we moved up to 128GB RAM. However I'm confused with the
outputs given.
The server has 32 x 4096MB DIMM's, giving a total of 131072MB, which is
128GB.
omreport shows the following:
Total of Memory Array(s)
Attributes : Total Installed Capacity
Value : 131072 MB -- 128GB. Spot on, just what I expect
Attributes : Total Installed Capacity Available to the OS
Value : 128868 MB -- 125GB. So where did the rest go ?
# free -m
                   total used free shared
buffers cached
Mem: 128869 128245 623 0 659
49701
-/+ buffers/cache: 77885 50984
Swap: 16383 92 16291
So where did 3GB disappear to ?
Many thanks,
Nick

Hi Morten

# cat /proc/mtrr
reg00: base=0x00000000 ( 0MB), size=131072MB: write-back, count=1
reg01: base=0x2000000000 (131072MB), size=1024MB: write-back, count=1
reg02: base=0xc0000000 (3072MB), size=1024MB: uncachable, count=1
reg03: base=0xbfc00000 (3068MB), size= 4MB: uncachable, count=1

131072MB = 128GB so that's showing all installed RAM.
