crossover cable

I was under the impression that Automatic MDI/MDI-X should have adjusted to either a straight or crossover cable.

Maybe some unluck was involved and both of the crossovers tested were bad.

This is because it's a gigabit 1000BASE-T standard with Automatic MDI/MDI-X configurations.  It would require for both sides to be 1000BASE-T standardized for a straight cable to work.
