I'm running 32-bit. uname -a is:

Linux mycomp 2.6.19.1 #1 SMP Tue Jan 2 15:40:44 PST 2007 i686 GNU/Linux 

I already replaced dash to bash (I think it was a previous thread of
yours).

I have this working with Ubuntu 6.10 AMD-64 Desktop on a 2900, you don't
mention whether you are using a 64 bit kernel / distro, but I hope these
might be some hints that are useful to you.




First I had to replace the sh equivalent from dash (Ubuntu desktop
std.)  to bash. Dash seemed to confuse some of the startup scripts.

dpkg-reconfigure dash and answer the question(s)

I had to then reinstall the dellomsa package (or at least reconfigure
it) so that the postinst script would run cleanly. I looking at your
output you don't seem to have those issues, but ...

On my system the /var/lock/ directory disappears at each reboot, and
***therefore *** the /var/lock/subsys/ directory needed by the
/opt/dell/iws/bin/linux/dsm_om_connsvc script is not there after reboot,
and the script fails because it can't create a lockfile.


I modified the script to check for and make this directory, but you can
test this by:

sudo mkdir -p /var/lock/subsys

and then

/opt/dell/iws/bin/linux/dsm_om_connsvc start

should set the omsa demon running and listening on port 1311



netstat -a
....
tcp        0      0 *:1311                  *:*
LISTEN
....


Note:
To do anything useful (as in reconfigure disks etc.) with the web
interface you have to enable the root user on Ubuntu (it is disabled by
default)

sudo passwd root

is one way, Google for others

So it does work. The daemons need  /var/lock/subsys/ to put their
lockfiles in, so if it does not exist they will not start up correctly.
After you create it (see #3 at the top), try to restart the daemons.
