I'd check firmware first.

Is it on a perc?

I had one case where a drive in a raid set was the problem and the esm did not report it. The system was just unstable at times.

I came in this morning to find my PE2650 locked up spitting out errors to
console:

EXT-3-fs error (device sda10) in start_transaction: Journal has aborted
scsi0 (0:0): rejecting I/O to offline device
EXT-3-fs error (device sda9) in start_transaction: Journal has aborted
scsi0 (0:0): rejecting I/O to offline device

All I could do was reboot. The journals were recovered ok, and boot-up
seemed fine. I checked my cron, and found that a few intensive jobs had
started just before it locked up. I've read some people receiving this same
message under under heavy I/O load.
Has anyone else seen this behavior on their Dell? I have no idea where to
start, any ideas?
