not sure what you're trying to do shankar.  perhaps if you could
also supply details of:

o what hardware you are using
o what you are trying to install (e.g RHEL 2.1 ? 3.0 ? 4.0 ?)

as an example i have RHEL3 installed on a bunch of machines with
SATA disks using the ICH5 controller which is supported out of
the box on RHEL3 for the ICH5 controller.

from dmesg:
