2650 RH Shutdown

Greetings.

Having some issues here with a bunch of Dell PowereEdge 2650s.

These machines are a mix of RH 2.1 3.0 and 7.2

We simply cannot get these dudes to shut down to a powered off state
unless we use the Dell OpenManage software.

Dell, naturally contends that this should work fine. In fact, when
Windows 2003 Server is installed on the boxes, it powers off
perfectly.

The RH boxes however, are being stubborn when getting
commands from a shell or from the OS itself despite Dell's
assurance that it should work.

Commands suggested from Dell included:

halt -p
poweroff -p

These, along with any OS attempts, result in the machine shutting
down the OS, but going to a base prompt that tells us
"Power Off" (i.e. "You may now hit the button and I will turn off")
however, the unit will simply not power off.

Does anyone have any suggestions that might be fruitful on this?
