Hi:

2 days ago we triggered a "disk failure test" problem in our NAS 750N,
with Redhat 7.2.

We pulled out the disk in the slot #2. we ran 'enclosure prepare slot' to
avoid demagages.

AFA0> enclosure prepare slot 0 2

Later, when we pulled out the disk, the system began to rebuild the RAID5
automaticaly.

Later we saw this picture:

Enclosure
ID (B:ID:L) Slot scsiId Insert Status
----------- ---- ------ ------- ------------------------------------------
 0 1:06:0 0 1:00:0 1 OK ACTIVATE
 0 1:06:0 1 1:01:0 1 OK ACTIVATE
 0 1:06:0 2 1:255:0 1 OK EMPTY I/R READY NOTACTIVATE
 0 1:06:0 3 1:03:0 1 OK ACTIVATE
 0 1:06:0 4 1:04:0 1 OK ACTIVATE
 0 1:06:0 5 1:05:0 1 OK HOTSPARE ACTIVATE

After to put back the disk #2 (24 hours later) we saw this:

Enclosure
ID (B:ID:L) Slot scsiId Insert Status
----------- ---- ------ ------- ------------------------------------------
 0 1:06:0 0 1:00:0 1 OK ACTIVATE
 0 1:06:0 1 1:01:0 1 OK ACTIVATE
 0 1:06:0 2 1:02:0 2 OK UNCONFIG ACTIVATE
 0 1:06:0 3 1:03:0 1 OK ACTIVATE
 0 1:06:0 4 1:04:0 1 OK ACTIVATE
 0 1:06:0 5 1:05:0 1 OK HOTSPARE ACTIVATE

(and we have the same picture sisnce
Now, I want to configure:
1.- disk in the slot #2 as hotspare inactive, or
2.- use the disk in slot #2 in the RAID5 and use slot 5 as Hotspare,

but I've been unlucky .

I try to use 'container set failover', but I see the same Status "UNCONFIG
ACTIVATE" for slot 2.

Can somebody give a hand with the commands I need? (ifI am not wrong what
I am trying to do) I am still reading and testing commands from online
documentation for perc in dell site, but It's not my day.

This is server will go to production next week, so I am doing all the
test possible and create some internal documentation for my partners in
case we have problems with containers.

I would appreciate your help

Vene.-
