The patch to access the 3.7Gb of virtual memory does not do wonders.
It's a hack
that you often can get away with, but absolutely not always. There are
known issues 
(and deadlocks) if you have high end raid cards or 3D video cards. Also
if you have
big kernel modules you can get into problems.
