If you're going to RAID1 I would recommend using the linux software raid
1
on the individual drives. (those can even still be connected to the
megaraid)

For RAID1 hardware raid has no real benifit (unless you're going to the
gigabyte/second range) 
and software RAID1 also has basically no cpu overhead.
