Jeremy,

I successfully flashed the firmware on my server today. I just wanted to
thank you for your help. You seem to be very customer focused and are a
definite credit to DELL.

thanks again,

Dan Hardiman

Jeremy,

We don't have an anon. ftp server. The attachment was there but corrupt, I
suspect it got butchered on the way. I think what I'm going to do is to try
downloading it at home this weekend, after I have the files extracted to
floppies I'll try emailing what ever is on the floppies to myself here at
work.

I feel like I'm running the "Dilbert Contractor/Vendor Obstacle Course" with
this one! :-D

Thanks for your help.

Dan

Jeremy,

Ack... can't get there from here... I suspect it's the port 1999... firewall
wont let me out. Any chance you could email the extracted files?

Dan,

I just went and downloaded it from the website and I had no problems
creating the floppy disk. Not sure why you are getting this error. Try
either formatting the floppy you are using or try another floppy.

Jeremy,

Oooops, that message wasn't very clear. I wasn't able to update the
firmware. The p2sc313.exe file bombs during the extraction process when it
it's trying to create the floppies... I attached a copy of the error
screen...

thanks,

Dan Hardiman

huh? Do you have the Firmware flashed to 3.13 now on the PERC2/SC? How are
you installing RH Linux 7.1? i.e. Text, Expert, Basic, etc..

Jeremy,

There seems to be a bug in the install process, it's looking for temporary
files that don't exist.

Dan

Here is the direct URL for the firmware. This should resolve your issue.

Dan,

The Firmware on the PERC2/SC _MUST_ be a 3.13. If you are at v. 3.00 it
will not install. You can download the firmware from our website. The
filename is: p2sc313.exe

Also, the Logical Drive Array you confiugred on the PERC2/SC, make sure have
"Initialized" the Array as well before installing RH Linux.

Thanks,

Folks,

I'm trying to install RedHat 7.1 on a DELL 6300 which has a PERC 2/SC
controller installed. I had no problems getting 7.1 installed on the single
internal SCSI drive but I can not for the life of me get LINUX to see the
the RAID. Does anyone know what driver I should be using with this build of
LINUX?

Here is the error I'm getting:

megaraid: v1.14g (Release Date: Feb 5, 2001; 11:42)
Unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference at virtual address 000002cc

Any help/input would be greatly appreciated. Please cc:
