This could definitely be explained a bit better. You did get it right. (X60111.bin is the firmware binary for the Fan Control Board, version 1.11).

For posterity, the general procedure is:

# unzip PEC6220FCB0111.exe
# chmod -R 755 PEC6220_FCB011100/
# cd PEC6220_FCB011100/
# cd kcsflash
# cd linux
# ./kcsflash FCB ../../X60111.bin

You should not need to explicitly flash the fan table; it's actually included in that "X60111.bin" and is not considered to be a user-serviceable piece.

Subject: [Poweredgec-tools] FCB update

I was asked by Dell support to update FCB. I downloaded the latest driver pack and unpacked it and I can see that there is quite many image files but no documentation explaining them.

ls -al /home/wjt27/PEC6220_FCB011100/

-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 952 Dec 29 2011 VILI0100.bin
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 139312 Jul 11 21:48 X60111.bin

I worked out that the X60111.bin is the actual FCB firmware but could someone explain to me which of the three Fan Table Mapping images I should use for C6220 server?

Best regards,

Wojciech
