Virtual Machine software on D531 Latitude

Hi,

I have had quite a battle to get any virtual machine software running on my
Latitude D531 amd 64 system.

I have tried

Suse 10.3 and 11
Ubuntu 8x
ForesightLinux

Using KVM and Qemu

and everytime I start a vm the system "hang" then hard resets

Has anyone had this before?
