Ubuntu on T3400

Hi list,

We're trying out the new T3400 for our new Windows workstations, and I
am now also testing them for Linux deployment. We use Ubuntu 6.06 LTS
and RHEL 4 (actually CentOS 4.4) and I quickly ran into trouble
regarding the support of the SATA controller (or rather the absolute
lack of support for it).

I've checked the DELL support site, but only drivers are listed for the
SAS controller, no SATA. The older SATA drivers (those for the 690 for
instance) do not seem to work.

Does this mean that at the moment Ubuntu 6.06 and RHEL4 must do without
SATA support? I find it a bit strange that the SAS controller is
supported, but normal SATA not...
Any thoughts?
