Upgrade question

Hello,
Presently, I have a Precision 390 with a 1.89 GHz duo core process and FX
550 video card running Red Hat Enterprise WS 4.
I'm thinking about upgrading so I can run Windows XP (Programming and games)
and Linux (Programming and Oracle 10g) at the same time. My thought is:
1. Processor upgrade. Q6600 (Quad core 2.4 GHz)
2. FX 3450 or FX 3500
3. Additional hard drive for the Windows XP system.
4. Go to Red Hat Enterprise WS 5 with virtualization (one guest running
Windows XP)
I'm wondering if anyone has any experience, suggestions, advice, gotcha, etc
in accomplishing this endeavor. As for the Windows XP game, most likely it
will be Final Fantasy XI.
I considered dual boot but really want to be able to work on Linux
(compiles, database building / access, etc) at the same time I'm
adventuring.
