The same happened to me after 1 week of inactivity. I tried control
everything and it did not come back. Will be interested if somebody can
suggest what to try.

Mine is a 380

Alberto

I wrote about this a while ago and am curious if anyone has heard any
similar complaints, or has any ideas.

I'm running 32 bit RHEL5 on my Precision 390, and periodically after a
period of inactivity the screen goes black, and tapping the keyboard
will not bring it back.

The machine is still up and normally hitting control-alt-F1, and then
control-alt-F7 will bring me back to my desktop.

This afternoon that wouldn't even work so I logged in via ssh from my
laptop and ran a kill -9 -1 as my user and got back to the login screen.

I'm running the most recent nvidia driver from here:
http://linux.dell.com/files/nvidia/rhel5/

Any ideas what I can do about this?
