No sound on Precision 690

Hello,

I have debian/sid on a precision 690 but I cannot get the sound card
working with the current kernel 2.6.22-2-amd64 and alsa 1.0.14-2. I
don't have any external speakers and system beeps can be heard, though
not loud (enough). Before I start to try alsa 1.0.15 and/or the newer
2.6.23 kernels, I would like see if other users have got sound working
with set-ups similar to mine (or earlier versions of kernel/alsa).

I guess my problem boils down to setting the *correct* value for the
parameters of the options of the snd-hda-intel driver. In particular,
the model=<value>" parameter. Commonly suggested values ref, 3stack for
the SigmaTel STAC92xx didn't work and "model=dell" didn't work, as
expected. :-)

Questions:

1. Any user has the correct setting for the "model" parameter for 2.6.22
kernels/alsa 1.0.14 (and maybe other required setting as well)?

2. Any experience that newer versions of kernel and alsa worked?
(Comparing ALSA-Configuration.txt between versions 2.6.22 and 2.6.23
shows that a lot more Dell cards are usable -- lots of "model=dellxx"
in the 2.6.23 doc)

Thanks in advance,
ST
