Precision M65 Laptop

Just a quick question...
 
I am trying to compile a new kernel for the M65 Laptop.
 
Has anyone managed to get a framebuffered console working, as well as an X-display using the closed-source NVIDIA X driver? The opensource NVIDIA framebuffer driver works a treat, but is incompatible with X windows driver, so I know I have to use another method - I am just flummoxed knowing how!
 
Anyone have any hints / tips? What kernel configuration do you use?
