I've done extensive testing on this and I have not been able to get the
any higher that the 8765 driver to work. I have 15 Dell Precision
360's with the same card and found it was not worth spending any more
time on the issue due to the relative age of the card and systems, so I
left them on RHEL4. I had no pressing reason to upgrade since they are
all desktop systems.

I would recommend to get the src rpm from 8765, recompile against RHEL5
and see if that works.

Subject: RHEL5 driver for NVIDIA Quadro FX 1000

Hi
I have a dell precision WS with an NVIDIA Quadro FX 1000 vid card that
was
originally shipped with RHEL 3. I brazenly upgraded to RHEL5 only to
realize that xwindows fails with the following message: Kernel source
for
2.6.18-8el5 not installed: Nvidia 1000

I googled, yahood and otherwise violated the internet for new drivers,
but
managed to only find the dell-nvidia-9746-7dkms.src.rpm, which didnt
seem to
ameliorate the problem.

Are there any other updates available? Is there a safe mode that x
windows
can be initialized in so that i can circumvent the problem in the
meantime?
I did see a 64bit driver mentioned in the archives, but I am clueless
about
whether this would also work for my card and how to recompile for a
32bit
system.

Your help is greatly appreciated!
