firmware upgrade on linux for DVD+-RW burners

Is it possible to upgrade the firmware on DVD+-RW burners under linux
using wine? If not then if Dell would provide DOS versions of Windows
firmware installations like this:

..then it would be possible to use the dell linux bios installer that
sets up grub to boot to DOS for firmware upgrades as well. This would
be really cool. Another option would be to try to get the Dangerous
Brothers to convert these utilities into DOS versions.
