Sound problems in precision 670 using rhel5

Hi,
    Has anyone had difficulty with their sound on precision 670s using 
rhel5. It was working on rhel4 and ubuntu 7.04, but it does not seem to 
work on rhel5. Did the sound test and there was no sound. Here are the 
details

    * Vendor: Intel Corporation
    * Model: 82801EB/ER (ICH5/ICH5R) AC'97 AUDIO CONTROLER
    * Module: snd-intel8x0

The menu says it has detected the audio device, but the test fails.
