RHEL 4 audio problems -- update

Greetings,
Sorry I didn't reply to this sooner but I was in training all last week
and we block kernel upgrades from red hat (via pkgSkipList=kernel in
/etc/sysconfig/rhn/up2date so we can do these things at a time of our
own choosing)
I have confirmed that kernel 2.6.9-55 fixes the sound issues on the
Precision 380. Here are the commands I ran in my tests:
-------------------------------------------------------
rpm -e snd-hda-intel > /dev/null 2>&1
rpm -e dkms > /dev/null 2>&1
/usr/sbin/up2date -f -u --nox > /dev/null 2>&1
-------------------------------------------------------
We are gonna run a script to run these commands this weekend on all of
our Precision 380s running RHEL 4. I've also modified our kickstart files
so that we aren't trying to install these two RPMs when people need to
install a fresh machine. This works because we run /usr/sbin/up2date -f -u
in our %post in kickstart so any newly installed machines should get
2.6.9-55 or newer kernel on first boot.
Thanks,
