Precision M65 - no mute on headphones

I have a Precision M65 running CentOS 4.4 with the
snd-hda-intel-1.0.6p-9dkms RPM and alsa 1.0.13 installed. I've got the
sound working, but for some reason the external speakers do not mute
when plugging in headphones, either to the laptop directly or to the
docking stations headphone input.

Is this a limitation in the driver or is there a way I can configure
this to work correctly? It works under Windows XP when connecting the
headphones to the docking station, but not to the laptop directly
(when docked).
