Sanjay,

In the Section "Screen" of /etc/X11/xorg.conf manually add
1680x1050, also look for the horizontal and vertical refresh rates and
change them to 76 Hz for the vertical and 81 kHz for horizontal restart
Xwindows. If this doesn't help please attach your xorg.conf file with
your reply.

Ultrasharp 2007WFP 20-inch specs can be found here:

Subject: [Monitor Problem]

Our lab has a 390n Precision with Redhat Enterprise WS 4 on it and an
nvidia FX550 card. The monitor is a Dell 2007 WFP.
The monitor has a maybe 1.5 in strip to the left that it does not cover
i.e. it remains black. What do I do to make the monitor show the entire
picture?

The resolution for the monitor is 1680x1050 and the default file in
/sys/share/hwdata/MonitorsDB does not list this particular monitor. I
also don't know how the graphic card is supposed to fit into the
picture, when I looked at the /var/log/Xorg.0.log the part about the
graphic card starts with 1400x1050 and goes down from there. So do I
need a different graphic card?

Why on earth does Dell sell stuff that is not properly configured?

Any help to make my setup work will be appreciated.

Thanyou
