Hi Vincent

I have recently tested the latest updates of RHEL3 (update 8) and RHEL4 (update 4) and I'm sorry to say that neither of them is possible to install on optiplex 745. However fedora core 6 is possible to install so with the next update of RHEL it should be possible. It's most certain a driver missing in today's RHEL release.

I'm guessing we are at least two RedHat customers depending on RedHat to get their next release out now ;)

Btw, we are using the optiplex (today gx620) machines only for our lightweight cluster (for parallel calculations) so I can't give you any advice on the graphics as we run them all in init 3.

Best Regards

Subject: SUMMARY: What low-profile NVidia Quadro PCI-Express to pick?

Hi everyone,

For the record, After much investigation, I have settled on this low-profile card:

- MSI NX7300GS-MD256EH
(Ref: http://www.msi.com.tw/program/products/vga/vga/pro_vga_detail.php?UID=788 )

It's not a Quadro but I think it will offer better 3D than the aging NVS280 low-profile Quadro.

Also, it features a passive heatsink so it will keep the desktop users happy.

Best regards,
