Sound/CD on Precision 390

Hi folks -

we've got a Precision 390 running Scientific Linux (basically Red Hat) v4.5.
it's got a Soundblaster X-Fi card which obviously doesn't work so i've got
the integrated audio working and can play mp3s etc with no trouble. the
question is how do i get a CD to play music through either the speakers
or the front headphone socket ?

the CD drive has the standard audio cable socket but there doesn't seem
to be anywhere on the motherboard to plug the cable into other than a
socket labelled "AUX_LED" which doesn't sound too promising. i can also
see that the board at the front that houses the headphone/microphone/USB
sockets is hooked up to the X-Fi card via some sort of 20-pin cable and
there's no other obvious place to plug it into.

can the CD drive be plugged in anywhere to get audio out of the rear
integrated audio-out socket ? can (any) audio be played out of the front
headphone socket ?

cheers,

  john
