No sound after upgrading to RHEL4.4

Greetings,

Ok. After further experimentation, it seems that the
NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-8762-pkg1.run software downloaded from NVidia's web
site is stopping the dkms-2.0.5-1.noarch.rpm and
snd-hda-intel-1.0.6p-9dkms.noarch.rpm working with the smp kernel for
kernel 2.6.9-42.0.2 on a precision 380 workstation.

Is there another version of NVidia's package I could use that DELL would
recommend? Our user's kind of expect 3D video to work with the Precision
380s. We were using NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-7676-pkg1 until recently but I
upgraded to 1.0-8762 after the old drivers started flaking out with some
of the newer kernels. (Mainly saw symptoms on our Precision 370s)

Sorry this is turning out to be so convoluted. When using "nv" (Open
source drivers) the sound works okay with both smp and uni kernels with
both rpms installed. Its the installation of the Proprietary video drivers
that seems to make things not work. :(
