Kubuntu Edgy on precision 390 + SAS ?

Hi there,

I'm pretty sure it is a stupid question, but I couldn't find the
answer in the archives of this list: I have just got a new Precision 390
with a SAS Host Adapter, and I tried to install Kubuntu Edgy on it,
without success. I tried both the amd64 and i386 versions (though I
presumed it was the amd64 that would work best), but the install just
freezes after the first installation screen (in text mode, it complains
after the "boot:\nLoading" message, that the kernel is corrupted, but it
looks like it cannot load it from the CD because of some hardware
problem, as I tried with different CD images).

What should I do ? Is there a ubuntu distrib (or another free
distribution) known to work immediatly ? Should I switch the cdrom drive
with an older one ? Or is there some option to pass to the loader so it
can work around this problem alone ? I saw that some of you are using
Ubuntu on your Precision 3*0 boxes...

Thanks for advises
- Fabrice
