Hi David,

Thanks for the reply.

Yes, now I can connect to the console of the Linux, however could you
please advice me which tool to use to set the Display settings from the
CUI.

Moreover, I don't find any errors on the Putty and connects straightaway
however using Reflections as a Terminal Client, it says can't connect to
the host, this is kinda surprising!!!

Any advice would be appreciable...

Regards,

Wilson Samuel

PS: Yes, I agree with you, that one of the mails on this Mailing List is
supposed to be taken as part of the Dell Support Contract :-)

Hi Wilson,

I am not replying as a representative of Dell, so any troubleshooting
steps I advise you on what not be covered under your dell warranty,
these are troubleshooting steps I have found work myself.

You can switch to a text console by pressing 'Ctrl+Alt+F1 to F6' (there
are 6 terminals, F7 takes you back to the X server). This should let you
logon to the local machine and then run an X config tool.

I have found that some SSH clients can be a bit unhappy with
certificates - maybe this is the issue here? If this is the case putty
usually gives an error along the lines of "Certificate not found -
continue anyway".

Hope this helps,

David.

Subject: Unable to Configure the Monitor / Display Settings

Hi All,

I have installed the RHL Enterprise 4.0 on my Precision 380. During
installation everything goes fine however after the installation, I'm
not able to get the Display correctly, as I presume that its because its
not able to detect the correct resolution and / or the monitor type
(I'm using Dell LCD Display).

Just wondering what tool I can use to get into the Terminal Mode (via
SSH from some other host) and run a X-configurator tool which would
correct my display settings and I should be able to see the GUI again.

Moreover, I'm trying to use the Reflections Terminal Client to connect
to the host via SSH but it doesn't connect to the host, however if I use
Putty it works well.

Any help would be greatly appreciable.

Regards,

Wilson Samuel
