380N RH WS4 EM64T w/ DVD/RW hangs on cd read (resolved)

I had problems with reading too. I didn't think the 2.6 kernels required
the ide-scsi flag anymore. I don't have it. In my case, it turned out
that dma was off for /dev/hda (my CD writer). Once I turned dma on, I am
able to read data from CDs without any problem.
