aacraid driver for 2.6 kernels

I would like to use the aacraid driver with Linux kernel 2.6.17 and
Debian, supporting my Dell CERC 1.5/6ch SATA RAID controller on a
Precision 670, but Dell's FTP site indicates that the driver has only
been integrated with 2.4 series kernels. Is aacraid development still
continuing somewhere, or would I have to rewrite the driver myself
(shudder!)?
