Mixing IDE and SATA drives on Precision 360

Hi list,

We have a Precision 360 (bios A03) equipped with 1 CD and 3HDD,
everything IDE (IDE ports being completely used).

We now want to add 1 further HDD. Since there are two SATA-ports on the
board I supposed a SATA HDD should work.

Simple turning SATA on in the bios and plugging in the SATA-HDD does not
work, it was not recognised (neither bios nor linux/debian).

Has someone experience with mixing IDE and SATA on a Precision 360? Is
it possible?

I ask because you cannot order a 360 with mixed drives from Dell, but a
few user seem to run such a system...

best regards+many thanks for any reports!
Christoph
