Hi Robert,

Please provide the debug logs from failed system and following are steps to collect the debug logs.

     1. Extract dup by running the command "./BIOS_MKCTM_LN_2.5.2.BIN --extract /tmp/dup_extract_dir"
     2. “cd /tmp/dup_extract_dir “.
     3. “touch smaldebuglog” .
     4. “cp payload\* . “ .
     5. “./biosie.bin -u -d updatelog.txt > update.xml"
     6. Send update.xml, updatelog.txt , SMAL_DBG.log and logs from /var/log/dell/updatepackage/log/support directories

Santosh

Did you ever find an answer for this?

I had a similar problem -- update_firmware didn't work (got the same errors as you).

I also tried downloading the BIN upgrader from Dell; that didn't work either (similar error):

root# sh BIOS_MKCTM_LN_2.5.2.BIN
Collecting inventory...

Running validation...

Server BIOS 12G

The version of this Update Package is newer than the currently installed version.
Software application name: BIOS
Package version: 2.5.2
Installed version: 2.2.3

Internal Error: ErrorCode not Found in ErrorCodes File

Hi All,

I've been having trouble updating the BIOS on one particular PowerEdge R720.
The umpteen other R720s we have have been fine having this update applied
via "update_firmware --yes", but this one isn't having any of it:

[...]
Found firmware which needs to be updated.

Running updates...
/ Installing dell_dup_componentid_00159 - 2.4.3Installation failed for pac
aborting update...

The error message from the low-level command was:

ErrorCodes File is missing

So, what's going on here, please? What file is missing? I've tried
reinstalling the RPM
(Server_BIOS_12G_componentid_00159_for_system_ven_0x1028_dev_0x048c-2.4.3-1.noarch)
but that doesn't seem to help. I've even tried rebooting the box and trying
again after that.

I'm sure I've seen something about this before, but I'm damned if I can
remember what the upshot was.

With thanks,

Ben
