HI Matias,

As far as I know there could be two reasons.

1. Battery starting to die.
2. The PERC's have a "learning cycle" that it puts the battery through automatically every 90 days, wherein it drains the battery, then recharges it back to check the health of the battery. During this time you may see these messages.

However, I would recommend you logging case with DELL technical support.

Support representatives will review controller logs and will give a conclusion about battery status.

Also It would be better to keep Dell DSET report pulled from your server ready while logging case ,in case if you are not familiar with same our support staff will assist you to get the same.

Regards
Gopala

Subject: [Linux-PowerEdge] PE2950: W1228 ROMB batt < 24 hr

Hello!

I have a Power Edge 2950 with the warning "w1228 ROMB batt < 24hr" being displayed in amber.
That means that PERC battery is degraded and reaching the end of its lifespan? So changing that battery is required?
Or may I perform any test previously?

Thanks in advance, regards,
Matías
