[Linux-PowerEdge] Can I hot swap a PERC 5/i battery?

A reboot is required for the controller to notice the new battery.

However I managed - probably NOT a reccomended action - to swap a defective battery while the system was still running and scheduled the reboot for a later time.

Just to spare me a trip to the datacenter at an odd hour.

Subject: [Linux-PowerEdge] Can I hot swap a PERC 5/i battery?

I've bought a replacement battery for a PERC 5/i that's complaining its battery has failed.

Anyone know if I can hot swap the PERC battery (Dell part FR463), or if it's necessary to power down the system to swap it out? All my Google searches tell me about hot swapping the drives, but nothing about the battery. :)
