Attaching MD's to R900

Can't see a point in that. It doesn't matter whether you use Perc5 or 6.

One thing to consider is, that Perc6/e with most recent FW is able to
handle multipath to MD which Perc5/e doesn't.

Keep in mind that MD1000 has two modes -> split + joint bus. You can
only use 2x Percs connected to MD in split mode.

Looking at Dell's website it appears that the MD1000 does not support
the dual port PERC6E.

It seems I can purchase an MD1000 with 2 x PERC5E or 1 x PERC6E.

Can anyone advise on this please ?

Thanks,

Nick.

Yes, it is possible.

You can run a MD1000 either as an expansion unit for MD3000(i) (but not
more than 2x per MD3000(i)) or as JBOD.

The JBOD then can either be used on SAS5 HBA w/o RAID function or
connected to any external Perc to enable you to run RAIDs.
