My advice is to build a installation kernel based on 2.6.30. I was able to install and use
a Debian Lenny amd64 on a PE R710 server. You could do a netinst with your kernel if you
build all the necessary driver in the kernel.

# dmidecode | grep "Product Name: Power"
Product Name: PowerEdge R710

# cat /etc/debian_version
5.0.1

# uname -a
Linux server 2.6.30-1-amd64-server #1 SMP Fri Jun 12 11:11:56 CEST 2009 x86_64 GNU/Linux

BTW, anyone has the dellomsa 5.5.0-5 in amd64 packages from sara repository working on this
distribution ? Starting dellomsa keep starting the ipmi section of OMSA :-/

Regards.
