Preserving md3000i config on rebuilt CentOS 5.2 box?

I have an md3000i connected to a 64-bit CentOS 5.2 PE2950 server.
During my honeymoon period of learning how the md3000i worked and how
applications and networking interacted with the device, I found, if I
rebuilt the 2950 server, the 3000i config data was lost, RAID
configuration and all. If I rebuilt the 2950 server, I had to
rebuild the array. Fortunately at the time, I only had test data on
the 3000i.

Now, everything is in production.

If the 2950 server ever went down hard, or simply needed to be
rebuild/replaced, is there a way to preserve the settings of the
md3000i, so I could have as little downtime as possible, and the RAID,
and data within, the md3000i would remain intact, I rebuild the
server, [re]install mdsm, log back into the md3000i, and life would
magically be good again? If it possible to preserve the complete
RAID configuration for a server rebuild, how is that process done?

Thanks in advance.

Scott
