IO error issues with MD3000i on Linux

The controllers are not active-active like the more expensive (i.e.
EMC) arrays.
You will get an I/O error if you try to access a LUN via the standby
controller - it can't access the storage unless the 'owner' controller
fails or some other deliberate action taken.
I spent hours trying to get multipath to work with out filling my
console with I/O errors.
The Multipath rdac driver in RHEL 5 doesn't actually know about the
Dell/LSI 'rdac' MD3000i, and the basic 'readsector' path checker returns
I/O error each time it tries to 'check the path' to the standby controller.
