Monitor RAID status on debian etch

Hello,

I have a Dell PowerEdge 2950 with debian etch (2.6.18-6-amd64 #1 SMP  
Fri Dec 12 05:49:32 UTC 2008 x86_64 GNU/Linux).

# lspci
01:00.0 RAID bus controller: LSI Logic / Symbios Logic SAS1078 PCI-X  
Fusion-MPT SAS (rev 04)

I would like to monitor the RAID status. I tried to follow several  
tutorial but it doesn't work. Every time I get this error.

# mpt-status
MPI_FUNCTION_CONFIG (get page header): No such device

Can you help me ?
