This ahs always been Dells response to OS's that are not official supported ona  server. Sometimes however you get a tech that is willing to try to help.

I don't know about that. I was denied technical support because I was
running CentOS. I called support on a brand new server (PE2900III) to
ask about the fan speed control, which seemed lacking. The support
person asked what OS I was running and when I mentioned CentOS, they
refused to help me any further until I installed RHEL or some other
supported OS.

I think those actions speak loudly what their policy is towards CentOS.
Pretty dumb if you ask me, considering the install base of CentOS is
growing very fast among many businesses I deal with.
