parted to resize partition

Hi all.

I would like to check if anyone has comment/experience/recommandation  
about using parted to expand a partition size?

Practically, we expanded an MD3000 with an MD1000 and we have 1.7TB  
that we want to add to one partition. We already added "free capacity  
(physical drive)" to the array and added capacity to the volume. Now  
we need to add it to the partition now. As we see it we must unmount - 
 > run parted -> resize -> re-mount.

Does it look alright to you guys?
