Yum downloads time out for my dell repositories

First verify there are no network issues between your server and the
repo:

wget
http://linux.dell.com/repo/hardware/latest/platform_independent/rh50/pre
req/firmware-tools-2.1.2-4.1.noarch.rpm

Your repo files look old, but they should work. To make sure there are
not any unseen problems, go ahead and re-bootstrap the repo:

wget -q -O - http://linux.dell.com/repo/hardware/latest/bootstrap.cgi |
bash

This will bring you up to the latest repo files, see if that works.

	Here are the 2 repo files I have and the mirror list

mirrorlist=http://linux.dell.com/repo/hardware/mirrors.pl?osname=el$rele
asever&basearch=$basearch&repo_config=$repo_config&

mirrorlist=http://linux.dell.com/repo/hardware/mirrors.pl?sys_ven_id=$sy
s_ven_id&sys_dev_id=$sys_dev_id&osname=el$releasever&

	;
	; This is a yum repository configuration file.
	;
	; Drop this file into /etc/yum/yum.repos.d/ to enable this
repository
	;

	; relies on "repo_config" variable provided by dellsysidplugin.
You can
	; hardcode this. It defaults to 'latest' on the server side if
the
	; variable isnt set (plugin not installed). You can set it in
	; /etc/yum.plugins.d/dellsysidplugin.conf

	[dell-hardware-main]
	name=Dell unofficial hardware repository - hardware independent
repo

mirrorlist=http://linux.dell.com/repo/hardware/mirrors.pl?osname=el$rele

	gpgcheck=1
	gpgkey=file:///etc/pki/rpm-gpg/RPM-GPG-KEY-dell

	;
	; This yum repository file is OS-specific, but works with the
	; Dell system id yum plugin (dellsysidplugin.py) to
automatically
	; detect the correct repository to use based on the system id.
	;
	; The server side mirror script is built such that it will
redirect to an
	; empty repository if the plugin is not installed.
