You can look SENSE codes up in pretty much any decent SCSI book, or the
SCSI specs.

However, 5 24 is Inavlid field in CDB. In other words the device didn't
understand the command.

4 40 would indicate some unrecoverable error. That drive may need to be
replaced.

Subject: Perc snmp trap : Sense code ?

Hi all,

from some of my RHEL5 PE servers, I often receive traps like theses ones
:

"Storage Management Event: Enclosure Information: Alert message ID:
2095, Enclosure information. SCSI sense data Sense key: 5 Sense code: 24
Sense qualifier: 0, Controller 0, Connector 0, Enclosure 0:0"
Or
"Storage Management Event: Controller Information: Alert message ID:
2334, Controller information. Controller event log: Unexpected sense:
Encl PD 20, CDB: 12 00 00 00 3a 00, Sense: 70 00 05 00 00 00 00 0a 00 00
00 00 24 00 00 00 00 00, system, Controller"
Or
"Storage Management Event: Array Disk Information: Alert message ID:
2095, Array disk information. SCSI sense data Sense key: 4 Sense code:
40 Sense qualifier: 80, Controller 0, Connector 0, Physical Disk 0:0:1"

What does that mean exactly ? (OID id
.1.3.6.1.4.1.674.10893.1.20.200.0.851 or
.1.3.6.1.4.1.674.10893.1.20.200.0.751 or
.1.3.6.1.4.1.674.10893.1.20.200.0.901)

Thanks a lot

Florent
