Dell OMSA 5.5 on Lenny - 95% functional ;)

Hi everyone!
I managed to install the sara.nl (thanks guys ;) dellomsa package with
Lenny on a PowerEdge 2950, mainly following this blog here:
http://sadsoftware.blogspot.com/2008/08/installing-dell-omsa-and-snmp-in-ubuntu.html
I got to the point that I finally managed to access the pseudo-webserver
at https://localhost:1311 (NOTE: http:// wouldn't work, only offered
some binary stream there).
Although I haven't manipulated anything there yet, I was able to access
all the menu items and get displays of the correct hardware setup in the
main window, EXCEPT for the "Software" entry in the main menu. As soon
as I select Software, the pseudo-webserver silently crashes (or so I
assume) and from then on, it is dead - no menu links will work anymore -
it's behaving exactly like there was no server on port 1311.
Has anyone experienced this behaviour, or could you tell me where to
look for a log file that would give me any hint on why the crash occured?
I'll try to compile a step-by-step guide on what I actually did to get
everything to run, but I haven't got one at the moment, as I mixed
instructions from several sources and kinda lost track of what I did ;)
I'm used to having some kind of log window on tty10 or 12 (under SuSE) -
however this seems unused / not to be the case on Lenny.
Any help appreciated!
Lars
