Swap HD's from one PERC to another

A somewhat off topic question.. If I have two 2850/2950's with identical
PERC's and firmware, would it be possible to take the drives attached to one
PERC, place them on the other PERC and have a fully functional array (with
data) on the new PERC?  I'm guessing I might need to re-create the array
once they are connected to the new PERC, but not initialize it (which would
erase the data?)?
