Kernel error on CD-RW/DVD ROM

As you note, the drive is not in use and I'm guessing that it does not 
have a CD in it. Some "mystery" process on your computer is trying to 
access the drive, fails, and the message gets generated.

If it were me, I would put a valid CD in the drive, which means the 
mystery process will not error-out and maybe (hopefully ?) continue 
further leaving its footprints in the logs.
