DRAC and VNC?

Well this is going back a few years, but each page on the HP RAC loads a 
Java applet which took > 30 seconds, and the console redirection applet 
often didn't work (you could see the cursor and type into the console, 
but you couldn't see the actual text on the screen.)

That and I've had no end of trouble getting Java running within a 64-bit 
Firefox.

Hmm, I don't like the sound of that.  I wonder why they don't use a 
standard protocol like VNC and provide a web-based method of accessing 
it?  Then those of us who apparently have "special" requirements can use 
other programs to connect over the same standard protocols...

Apparently (from an off-list post) you can however SSH into the DRAC and 
access the text console from there, so that's at least one possibility!
