PERC6/i not found by OMSA 5.4 after upgrade from PERC5/i

My guess is that the sysfs attributes have changed and the fields that
OMSA depends on to find the controller don't work anymore.

Subject: PERC6/i not found by OMSA 5.4 after upgrade from PERC5/i

I changed from a PERC5/i to a PERC6/i on a Poweredge 2900. The existing
RAID 5 array is functioning perfectly, but OMSA 5.4 does not find the
new storage controller.

- I see from the list archives that PERC6/i support was added to OMSA
5.3.

- The GUI is showing the status of all the other subsystems.

- I tried 'omconfig storage controller action=globalrescan', but
'omreport storage controller' still reports 'No controllers found'.

- I ran 'srvadmin-services.sh start' and got 'Starting mptctl: Waiting
for mptctl driver registration to complete: done'. And 'dmesg' output
shows:

Fusion MPT base driver 3.04.05
Copyright (c) 1999-2007 LSI Logic Corporation
Fusion MPT misc device (ioctl) driver 3.04.05
mptctl: Registered with Fusion MPT base driver
mptctl: /dev/mptctl @ (major,minor=10,220)

However, 'mpt-status' reports 'ioctl: No such device'.

OS version is openSUSE 11.0. I know this is "unsupported", but
troubleshooting clues would be welcome.

Thanks,

Philip J. Tait
