Help with setting up a RAID array with SAS?

You have a SAS 6/iR. This will only do a RAID 0 or a RAID 1. If you want
any other RAID level you should upgrade to a PERC.

You just select the controller on that first menu. Then on the next menu
there is an option for RAID Configuration.

Subject: Help with setting up a RAID array with SAS?

I'm trying to set up my first Dell PE 2950 system with SAS-6 and four
500MB SATAu drives. According to the bill of materials, this host was
supposed to have "CR679 ASSEMBLY..., CARD (CIRCUIT)..., SAS6IR,
INTEGRATED..., SLED..." installed. However, the boot BIOS message only
identifies it as a "Dell SAS-6, MPTBIOS-6.14.10.00, LSI Corp." When I
press control-C to enter the SAS set up, I see an adapter labeled
"SAS1068E" but don't see any way to configure it as a RAID. I'd like to
set it up as a RAID 5 with a hot spare, but the literature on the
SAS-5/iR says it is not capable of this. Can the SAS 6/iR do this? Do I
have a 6/iR installed? How to I configure the RAID?

Thanks so much for your help and advice.

-Kevin
